Celebrating Mama Bear

The older I get, the more connected I feel to my mother.
She's always been that special person for me and my sister, the magical fixer of everything, the one whose opinion ultimately counts, the one whose face we miss the most when we're away, the one who just knows what we're feeling without us saying a word, the one who cares about the little things and always goes the extra mile.
How are you supposed to feel about someone who worked hard jobs to put herself through grad school, was one of the few female MBAs of her generation, built an amazing career from scratch with effort and dignity but then gave it all up so you would have her smiling at the bus-stop when you came home from school? Just . . . wow. (You could have been Indira Nooyi, mom. Dang it.)
You're the bestest, funnest, classiest lady who inspires us everyday.
Here's to you - happy mother's day!

P.S. This is clearly my mom. Hi, Snoop Doggy.
